83 Days and Counting

83 Days and Counting

Just in case we forget, I've loaded a Countdown facility on my phone...with a handy alarm that will go off just before!! Its now Sunday 17th June so thats just 83 days (and the rest)

Further on, we've added a link to the Reception website and if you're starting to think about logistics for the day then the Taxi information might be useful. Finally.....we need more music. So if you haven't told us your toe tapping favourite...please send it through asap (you've only got 83 days!)

The reception is going to be at the Hulland Ward Millennium Hall....here's a link to the website that gives you lots of useful information, some pretty pictures and strangely....a helpful guide on the rules of whist!

Take a look...http://www.hwd2.co.uk/

Taxi !

If you're starting to think about car journeys or taxis then you'll be pleased to know that Allie's been busy doing some great deals with a local firm. For those of you that don't want to drive back from the reception and feel the walk might be a bit much after one or two cream sodas then you'll be glad to know that there's a lockable gate on the car park. So... your vehicles should be OK.....although obviously they're left entriely at the owner's risk.

Cars will have to be collected the next morning while the hall is open - we'll let you know these times nearer the day.

A local Belper taxi firm, Brook Travel (David Hudson) that has an eight seater and is willing to do some return trips from 10pm onwards.

According to Dave he should be able to get 4 trips from HW to Belper with approximate times being

10.15
11.00
11.45
12.30

...from HW

Doing stops at

The Talbot,
The Triangle,
The Lion
and Gibfield Lane.

Approx price...£25 per journey!

Interested?...Ring him and let him know how many seats/drop off etc

Subject to availability...he can reserve you the number of seats in your group for the preferred time. This way different people can group together to make it cost effective, however remember..you may be limited to the times available.

David is on 07976 071496

But if you are heading in the direction of Ashbourne it would probably be better to get an Ashbourne taxi company - there's a couple here:

01335 343928
01335 345198.

Good luck

And finally...Music

Thank you for the music...etc etc.....But we need more!

Here are just a few of the suggestions so far....

Steve and Paula:
Paula says she has two tracks: "It goes to show you never can tell" by Chuck Berry and "Summer of 69" by Bryan Adams. I'd suggest the second movement of Dvorak's New World Symphony, or, as an alternative, "Israelites" , Desmond Dekker.

Julie W:
‘Is this love’ by Bob Marley

Janice and Roger:
Roger gets his feet tapping with Sultans of Swing- Dire Straits. For me it has to be Do the Mess Around- Ray Charles.

Jane Brudenell:
Jimmy Mack, of course! Mercy - Duffy and for David Moondance- Van Morrison

Anthea:
'September' by Earth Wind and Fire, and 'I love to love' by Tina Charles For

So.....in anticipation of further entries

I say thank you for the music...For giving it to me

Rog

Saturday 21 January 2012

Welcome to our wedding blog. September 8th is our big day...and we'd like you to be involved. Read on..... Allie and Rog x

We've set up this blog so that you can all help us with ideas for the wedding and party.  We have some of the major things sorted (place and time of wedding and reception) and we know we want it to be an informal do - our favourite people, good food and plenty of laughter.  Apart from that we're looking for suggestions and ideas of how to make it a celebration to enjoy and remember.

We'll consider anything - no ideas too small or too wild - and we'll cherry pick our favourites to create a fab event that's inspired by friends and family

This is where we're getting married..
at 4pm on Saturday 8th September, 2012
and the reception/party will be here...

the Millenium Hall at Hulland Ward

We've already had some great suggestions for transport (a VW camper!) and wedding music...............so please get blogging by posting your comments and ideas below or adding links to sites on the internet that you think we'd like.

If you have trouble with the site then you could use

Wedding Invitations

The chances are that if you're reading this, then you've probably received an invitation.

A HUGE thank you goes to Paul (partner of Roger's neice Jodes) for putting the design together. We think they're pretty fab and we hope you do too.

Paul's a very clever chap when it comes to this sort of thing so please take a look at his website http://www.paulatchison.co.uk/

If you move your cursor over various parts of the invitation, you'll find there are links that will help you with things like car parking on the big day etc.. Have a play!

But just in case...we've put some information together below, that might be useful for you.

Once again Paul....thank you.

SOME HELP FOR THE DAY:

Car Parks ; The registry office is in the very centre of Ashbourne, on one side of market square on the Buxton Rd heading north.  There are a few car parks, but it can be quite busy with tourists and people Saturday shopping so allow time to park up and walk to the venue.  The nearest and biggest is behind Waitrose, but it does get busy!.  Here's a map of some car parks in Ashbourne:

and a useful weblink for parking:

If people let us know where they are staying we may be able to help in arranging taxis/shared cars or even a mini bus - we'll see nearer the time.

Travel Times; you may find the following useful:

Ashbourne to Hulland Ward – 1 road – 12 min drive
Hulland Ward to Belper – similar easy drive – under 20 mins
Hulland Ward to Ripley – bit further 25 min

And on the subject of presents....

A couple of people have asked us about wedding presents. We're not presuming anything here... BUT if that was something on your mind, here are our thoughts. First of all, thank you! Secondly, as you might have guessed, we don't have a pressing need for toasters, bed linen and china..

However we do have some shared interests and they are...a love of Gardening and Art and so it would be fab if we could pool any contributions anyone might like to make so we can buy something like some fruit trees, some garden furniture, or a meaningful painting

But if you do want to buy us a toaster.....then thank you.
